Service area: CYP Support and Safeguarding
Days of work: Monday – Friday with some evening and weekend work on a needs led basis.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated practitioner who works in a solution focused manner, has a can-do attitude, and has an ability to do work creatively to support children and families as part of our Intensive Family Support Service.
This is a hands-on role working intensively with a small group of families with diverse and multi-faceted needs. You will be a key part of the plan in place to make improvements to address key worries such as neglect, poor home conditions, and safety and wellbeing of children. You will work alongside social workers and other partners to provide a holistic support package.
You will work intensively in family homes and out in the community, visiting your families multiple times a week for extended visits to really get to know them and understand what works for them and their wider support network. You will provide practical support, modelling skills and walking alongside families to support them to make and sustain change, engaging their networks to promote enduring change.
Some of these families may have had a lot of service support in the past and as a service we are committed to effectively engaging families and supporting them to make and sustain change, through a family and child centred approach, which is focused on creativity, effective relationships and co-production. We love to identify and build on strengths within family systems to build resilience and skills, all the while empowering families towards a safe and positive future.

What we are looking for in an Intensive Family Coordinator:
- Be educated to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant area e.g. health and social care, social work etc.
- Have a current full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Have experience of supporting families faced with complex challenges.
- Be tenacious and committed to providing excellent support to children and their families.
- Have experience of empowering families to build and sustain change through relational, strengths-based approaches.
- Have knowledge of how important a good support network is in achieving and sustaining positive changes in family functioning.
- Have a proven track-record of delivering high-quality, outcomes-focused support to children and their families.
- Be able to demonstrate that you are able to work flexibly and quickly adapt to fast changing circumstances.
- Have excellent written and oral communication skills, be able to demonstrate a high level of motivation and be able to work independently, within timescales and often balancing conflicting priorities.

Without a well embedded model, there is nothing to centre our practice on to ensure that, while the work may be different, all of our teams are grounded in the same values, beliefs, theories and approaches. Having a well-developed practice model helps to create a common language for the service and enables everyone to understand how we go about doing the right things, in the right way and for the right reasons for children and their families.
