About the recipient

Applicants are required to work with a 5-year-old boy with Autism. This individual is non-verbal and will lead by hand to items he wants. They enjoy going to the local park in their pram and will often take their favoured teddy who provides great comfort to them. They also are big fans of going to local soft play and on warmer days the beach. Applicants will have to be very clear in their instructions and be very patient as this individual can struggle with new places or ending favoured activities. They also struggle with the word no, so applicants will need to be creative in how they approach situations. He also has a limited diet. Applicants should have experience of working with SEN; driving is also preferred due to location. Applicants will need to be patient, compassionate, and consistent due to this young person needing to know what is going on. Applicants will need to be comfortable with delivering personal care due to the young person's needs. The work will be for 3 hours a week and will consist of mainly weekend work and weekdays in the holiday.
