Personal Assistant required for a 20 year-old young man with autism and associated learning disabilities. We are seeking a Personal Assistant to support him to access the community and engage in social activities such as going to the gym, swimming, bingo, arcades & days out etc.
The young man is non-verbal but communicates with eye contact, facial expressions, and some basic vocabulary and sign. He has a sunny disposition and enjoys the company of adults. He can sometimes get anxious when going to unfamiliar places and may refuse to engage in activities, therefore we are looking for someone who is outgoing and engaging and is also calm and patient in these circumstances.
The hours are 18 over 2 days per week, ideally a Thursday and Saturday or Sunday. Extra hours are available for holiday and sickness cover, flexibility is required.
Ideally looking for someone who has experience working with children/adults with additional needs. Full training available. A Male PA is preferred due to some basic personal care needs and must be a car driver. Mileage will be paid. DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post - Cost to be met by the local authority.
