A vacancy has arisen for the position of Roadworker level 2 based at the Hedon Highways depot. The in-house Highway teams provide the day-to-day maintenance of the highway and footway networks within the East Riding. We seek a reliable, hardworking and motivated individual to join our successful team to deliver a range of projects from small scale patching, drainage and footway repairs to county wide paving operations, together with general highway construction and maintenance works.
The Highways Team have a strong βcan doβ attitude which is focused on delivering high standards of work to all highway users. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a proven track record of working in the highway maintenance or construction industry, together with a forward-thinking attitude to ensure the service continues to build on its previous successes.
A full, clean driving licence is essential preferably with Category C1 entitlement. Should you not have a Category C1 entitlement or above, there will be the requirement to undertake the HGV medical within the six-month probationary period of employment. A NRSWA Operative certificate is essential as is knowledge and experience of Construction Health and Safety legislation in relation to highways works.
You will work a standard 37-hour week Monday to Friday. Additional overtime is worked on a planned basis as are standby rotas, which include the Highways out of hours standby. This service is to attend emergency situations which occur on the Highway network out of normal working hours; you may be called upon to participate on this standby rota.
