Overview

Direct Payment Worker – Goole. We are looking for 2 to 3 carers to provide care and support and to ensure we have sufficient cover.

Hours: 12 hours per week Monday – Sunday. Morning calls start around 9:00-9:30am and tea-time calls around 5:00pm. Scheduling: 5 days per week AM 45 mins; 2 days per week AM 1.5 hours; 7 days per week tea time 45 mins.

About the recipient

The individual is a 51 year old female and resides in Goole. They require a dedicated and suitable person to support them due to having osteoarthritis which causes pain head to toe and very limited movement. The lady has:

  • Osteoarthritis.
  • Stoma bag.
  • Chronic Asthma.
  • COPD.
  • Dysphagia (food must be cut into thin pieces to prevent choking).
  • Diabetes.

Lady enjoys talking to friends, watching films and likes to have choices in bedding, food, drinks etc. Lady does not like her doors being shut due to past trauma so these must always stay open.

Responsibilities

  • Meal preparation and some domestic tasks.
  • Assisting the individual with medication.
  • Assisting with personal care.
  • Stoma care.

  • Be motivated, proactive and able to work on their own initiative.
  • Be patient, caring and understanding.
  • Have good communication skills (clear and effective communication).
  • Be able to build a positive relationship with the individual to both encourage and support them.
  • Have previous experience caring for an individual with additional needs.
  • Be flexible to accommodate the hours of work where necessary.
  • Be a team player and able to work effectively alongside another carer.
  • Be comfortable with animals as there are 2 indoor cats in the household.
