A lady in her early 40s with a learning disability, memory retention issues, anxiety, diabetes, high cholesterol, and Hidradenitis (a skin condition) requires a Personal Assistant (PA) for 8 hours per week to fulfill the following duties:

  • Support at medical appointments and medication prompts.
  • Assist with finances, mainly advising on planning weekly food shopping and encouraging her to spend her income wisely.
  • Help with cooking to support diabetes and high cholesterol management and promote a healthier lifestyle.
  • Support with food shopping.
  • Provide social support, such as visits to the pub, café, cinema, or local attractions.
  • Travel training in unfamiliar areas.
  • Assist with domestic chores around her home, such as helping with bed changes.

This lady is fun, has a great sense of humour, and enjoys all aspects of a social life. She often lacks confidence, but with the right encouragement, this can be improved. She requires someone who is patient, understanding, supportive, encouraging, enjoys social chats, and is fairly active.

There are currently two other support workers. Hours and days are flexible, and holiday cover may be required. The lady receives 25 hours of support; one worker has 7 hours, and another has 10 hours, so this vacancy is for 8 hours.

DBS and reference checks are required for this post, with costs met by the local authority. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS clearance check.
