We are seeking to appoint an EYFS Teacher. We would like you to:

As a church school, the successful candidate would be expected to support the Christian ethos of the school. This appointment will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

The appointment is subject to the current pay and conditions of employment for Teachers other than Headteachers contained in the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document 2021, the Professional Standards for Teachers, the required standards for Qualified Teacher Status and other current legislation.

Professional Duties

A teacher employed in a school shall perform, in accordance with any directions which may reasonably be given to them by the headteacher from time to time, such particular duties as may reasonably be assigned to them. These to include:

  • Teaching, having regard to the curriculum for the school, and with a view to promoting the development of the abilities and aptitudes of the pupils in any class or group assigned to them.
  • Planning and preparing inclusive and creative lessons.
  • Teaching according to their individual needs, the pupils assigned to them.
  • Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress and attainment of pupils.

Other Activities

Promoting the general progress and well-being of individual pupils and any class or group of pupils assigned to them. Providing appropriate guidance and advice to pupils on educational and social matters, making relevant records and reports. Communicating and co-operating with parents of pupils. Communicating and co-operating with persons or bodies outside school and participating in meetings arranged for the above purposes. Providing or contributing to oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual and groups of pupils. Participating in arrangements made to appraise their performance. Reviewing from time to time their methods of teaching and programmes of work. Taking part in arrangements for further training and professional development which aim to meet needs identified in appraisal objectives or statements. Advising and co-operating with the headteacher and other teachers on the preparation and development of courses of study, teaching materials, teaching programmes methods of teaching and assessment and pastoral arrangements. Maintaining good order and discipline among pupils and safeguarding their health and safety when on the school premises or engaged in authorised activities elsewhere. Participating in meetings at the school which relate to the curriculum for the school or the administration or organisation of the school, including pastoral arrangements. Delivering assemblies, registering the attendance of pupils and supervising pupils, whether these duties are to be performed before, during or after school sessions.

Working Time

A teacher employed full-time shall be available for work for 195 days in any school year, of which 190 days shall be days on which they may be required to teach pupils in addition to carrying out other duties; and those 195 days shall be specified by their employer or, if the employer so directs, by the Headteacher. A teacher shall be available for such duties, times and places as may be specified by the Headteacher for 1265 hours in any school year, those hours to be allocated reasonably throughout those days in the school year on which they are required to be available for work. A teacher shall work such reasonable additional hours as may be needed to enable them to discharge effectively their professional duties. The amount of time required for this purpose beyond the 1265 hours shall not be defined by the employer.
