The Resources Technical Assistant role involves the day-to-day ordering of plant, equipment and materials required by the operational staff (Assistant Managers, Road Works Supervisor and Lead Road Worker) to undertake the works required. This involves receiving order requests and using the existing framework contacts to identify the most competitive compliant item. It also involves liaising with suppliers and operational staff to arrange requirements.

The role also includes completing and maintaining various spreadsheets to ensure compliance and accuracy. The role reports through the supervisory chain of Assistant Engineer, Engineer and Operations Manager. The role requires the minimum competencies contained within the job outline and employee specification. Employees are also required to have completed and regularly refresh corporate training. The role will be carried out under the supervision of, and will report to, the Service Manager for Highway Maintenance. The role has the ability to access progression within the grade by meeting the required criteria.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Receive order requirement from operational staff.
  • Use framework contracts to source requirements.
  • Place orders/requisitions in a contractually compliant manner.
  • Maintain materials log with information to ensure up to date.
  • Maintain hired plant log with information to ensure up to date.
  • Ensure appropriate insurance is in place for self-drive plant.
  • Maintain waste disposal spreadsheets in preparation for invoicing.
