The East Riding of Yorkshire Council is proud to lead a range of in‑house adult social care services which support residents in their own homes, in the community and in residential care. Following an internal promotion, a new and exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Service Manager to oversee the Council's in‑house care services supporting people with learning disabilities.
This role will involve leading and overseeing a significant number of care and support services, of which some are CQC regulated, and be accountable for ensuring all are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led.
Key ResponsibilitiesWorking as part of the Council's Adult Social Care and Health directorate, you will work closely with colleagues across all aspects of the social care system, making sure that in‑house services are meeting the needs of individuals and are delivering functions in support of the Council priorities for commissioning.
The role will oversee and lead a workforce who are providing front‑line social care delivery to East Riding residents through services including residential care, day opportunities and short‑breaks. These services predominately support adults aged 18+ with a wide range of care and support needs including learning disabilities, autism, neurodiversity and physical disability but may also support those with care needs due to older age, memory impairment conditions and mental health needs.
You will be accountable for service delivery at the highest standards and continue to develop new and innovative ways of providing care and support, with co‑production at the heart of every initiative. You will be a confident and dynamic leader with a commitment to a culture of learning and positive change amongst the workforce.
You will hold a key interface with managers who oversee social work activity within the directorate, collaborating with them on complex cases to meet identified care and support needs with in‑house services. In addition to this you will be required to work closely with colleagues across the wider Council and with key partners, including health services, to achieve the best outcomes for individuals.
As Service Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the significant budget commitment for these services, demonstrating prudent use of public funds, value for money and identifying future financial needs. You will be required to evidence performance of services to the nominated individual and governance boards within the Council. It is essential the successful post holder has a strong awareness of the costs of delivering social care services, both building‑based and community led, with a clear sense of business acumen.

The directorate is driven to transform the way in which social care services are delivered locally, and you will play a key part in this ambition.
