We are recruiting to 2 fixed-term Senior Accountant roles within Corporate Resources and Prosperity and Place to cover internal secondments. Reporting to a Principal Accountant, you will provide high-quality financial advice and business partnering support to senior managers and budget holders.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting budget preparation, monitoring and forecasting
  • Preparing grant claims and statutory returns
  • Analysing financial performance and advising on trends
  • Contributing to the closure of accounts and financial reporting
  • Deputising for the Principal Accountant where required

You will also support and guide junior staff and play a key role in delivering effective financial management across services. We are looking for candidates who are CCAB qualified, or AAT qualified with significant relevant experience, with a sound understanding of public sector finance. You will have strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to build effective working relationships.

You will join a large and supportive finance team delivering services across a council supporting over 350,000 residents, with budgets exceeding £1bn. Hybrid working is available, with a requirement to attend County Hall, Beverley at least one day per week.
