The Council's Legal Services is looking to appoint a full‑time Principal Solicitor or Lawyer within the specific field of regulatory and employment litigation. As a highly experienced solicitor or lawyer in this domain, you will lead and advise on high risk, high value and complex legal matters and provide professional expert guidance and support to other lawyers within regulatory and employment related litigation.
You will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX lawyer with litigation practising rights and substantial proven experience in advocating and advising on the law relating to regulatory and employment law and related litigation, dealing with complex legal matters and preferably with experience in dealing with local authority legal work.
The ideal candidate is a strong team player with a pro‑active and can‑do approach, excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively at all levels across the council, including with elected members, senior leadership team and other stakeholders.
The Council offers many remote working opportunities as part of its commitment to providing flexibility wherever possible for employees.
This position has been identified as a politically restricted post under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989. Therefore, the post holder is restricted from undertaking or participating in any political activity.
Some travel across East Riding of Yorkshire may be required. Applicants must be able to transport themselves.
