Overview

Safeguarding in Education Team (Si ET) – Family First Partnership (FFP) programme - Fixed-Term Opportunity (18 Months)

We are seeking an engaging and experienced safeguarding professional with a strong background in education settings and leadership to join our Safeguarding in Education Team (Si ET).

This is a fixed-term, 18-month position, with a potential start date of September 2026 with post ending February 2028.

The 18.5 hours will involve Wednesday, Thursday and half a day on Friday.

Applications are welcomed from individuals currently working in safeguarding / leadership roles within education settings.

Consideration may be given to candidates seeking a secondment opportunity from an education setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated support, on behalf of Si ET, to the FFP Co-Design and Implementation Project Team and contribute to shaping, developing and delivering the Families First Programme across the Local Authority.
• Build and maintain strong, effective relationships with education settings and a wide range of partners to support the development and implementation of the Families First Programme structure.
• Advocate for the education sector; ensure views and experiences of schools and other education settings are represented within the programme.
• Facilitate clear, consistent two-way communication between the project team and education partners; share information, developments and learning.
• Contribute to development and ongoing evaluation of the Families First Programme; support community engagement, co-production activities, test-and-learn initiatives, implementation planning and evaluation across the East Riding Safeguarding Children Partnership.
• Help develop and embed system-wide procedures, pathways and processes that strengthen the Families First Partnership across East Riding, in collaboration with education partners and wider stakeholders.
• When not undertaking Families First Programme responsibilities, work as part of Si ET to provide advice, guidance and support to education settings to promote safeguarding practice.
• Contribute to team-led projects and participate in frontline safeguarding activity, including supporting the work of the Safeguarding and Partnership Hub (Sa PH) and the Si ET duty rota.
• Travel to schools and education settings as required; work with agile and time-based arrangements within Sa PH and Families First Programme commitments.
• Working pattern and commitments

Families First Programme commitments require availability on Wednesdays for team planning and meetings.

The remaining working time is typically Thursdays and a half day on Fridays, with flexibility to adjust working patterns in line with programme meeting commitments.

Requirements

• Experience in safeguarding/leadership roles within education settings.
• Ability to engage with a range of partners, facilitate communication, and influence educational practice to support safeguarding outcomes for children and young people.
• Willingness to travel to education settings and to work a part-time pattern as described.
