We are seeking an experienced Arts Manager to lead the Arts Development Team in Culture and Customer Services at East Riding Borough Council.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the delivery of externally funded arts projects across East Yorkshire, including East Riding Youth Dance, Classically Yours, Goole 200, and the Arts in Libraries National Portfolio Organisation programme.
  • Line‑manage the Arts in Libraries Officer and collaborate closely with East Riding Libraries to ensure effective programme delivery.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee programmes such as the Arts Forum, provide advice and networking opportunities, and manage the distribution of small grants.
  • Manage multiple live projects with competing deadlines while maintaining high standards of health and safety, safeguarding for children, and compliance with event delivery and procurement requirements.
  • Develop new projects, identify and secure fundraising opportunities, and prepare and submit funding bids.
  • Exercise strong administrative and financial management skills to monitor, report on, and maintain budget control across funded programmes.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate strategically with colleagues, partners, and funders at local, regional, and national levels, advocating for the arts sector and contributing to regional networks.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing arts and cultural projects, with a clear understanding of commissioning, contracting and procurement.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously, meeting varying deadlines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety in event delivery, safeguarding, and safeguarding practices working with children.
  • Experience in financial management, reporting and budget monitoring for funded programmes.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills, with the capacity to build relationships with stakeholders, partners and key funders.

Working Arrangements

  • Core working hours Monday to Friday, with flexibility for evening and weekend working for events.
  • Flexible working arrangements are available upon discussion.
