The Role:

As an Advanced Social Work Practitioner, you will play a pivotal role in advocating for the children and young people of East Riding. You will be instrumental in creating an environment that supports and enables relational practice, bringing creative and innovative ways of working. You will work holistically and collaboratively partner agencies and family networks, ensuring children and young people are at the centre of practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Excellent decision making skills and a clear understanding of the statutory duties and responsibilities in relation to social work with children and families.
  • Significant experience in statutory childcare work, including interventions with children, young people and their families under Child in Need Plans, Child Protection Plans, Family Law Legal Proceedings such as Public Law Care Proceedings, Private Law Proceedings and Adoption.
  • A strong ability to build effective working relationships with children, parents, carers, and others within a childs network, grounded in empathy and compassion.
  • A confident communicator, able to build rapport and deliver clear information.
  • A commitment to ensuring timely and appropriate support for children and families whilst prioritising the needs and risks to children.
  • Co-creating and implementing support plans with children and families based on their individual needs.
  • Collaborating with partner agencies to understand the childs lived experience, using outstanding partnership working.
  • Advocating for children and families, ensuring their voice is heard and rights protected.
  • Accountability and responsibility of work undertaken and engaging in regular reflective supervision.
  • Ability to work autonomously using own initiative.
  • Providing practice leadership, mentoring, and supporting less experienced staff.

These duties ensure the Advanced Social Work Practitioner plays a crucial role in delivering high quality services and making a positive impact on the lives of children and families.

About you:

  • You will need to be social work qualified (registered with Social Work England) and have significant post-qualifying experience in working with children and families.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with children and families.
  • Strong organisation skills and ability to prioritise and take accountability for own work.
  • Creativity in working with children and families ensuring the childs voice is heard.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and organisational standards.
  • Commitment to act as a role model for professional standards, ethics, and resilience.
