Job Description

Main purpose of the role:

To identify and meet the care, support and learning needs of service users and contribute to the development and quality assurance of informal learning activities. Must be qualified to SQFA Level 7 inPlaywork,Early years or Social Service Children Young People.

Accountabilities/ Responsibilities of the role:

1. To identify and meet the care, support and learning needs of service users and contribute to the development and quality assurance of informal learning activities and of the service.

2. Supervise the service users effectively at the service, during outings and trips and during escorting of service users from place of education to the service.

3. Be aware of and be responsible for the safety and security of service users.

4. Take day to day responsibility with the team to ensure the service users have consistent good care.

5. Organise and deliver appropriate service events/activities as required, in conjunction with Senior Practitioner and Service Manager.

6. Manage personal day to day work profile in keeping with service demands, within agreed timescales and as directed by the Senior Practitioner and Service Manager.

7. Maintain confidential records within an effective filing system, working closely & liaising with the service management team as appropriate.

8. Ensure effective communication of service user’s individual care needs within the team, reporting to the Senior Practitioner and/ or Service Manager as appropriate.

9. Liaise effectively with service user’s caregivers and encourage care-giver involvement.

10. Ensure that all work carried out within are of responsibility meets the requirements and needs of the Health and Social care standards, SSSC codes of practice and PVG Disclosure Scotland.

E1 – Appropriate qualifications in Child Care Giving/ Playwork level 3 or equivalent relevant experience.

E2 – Appropriate registration with SSSC & PVG.

E4 – Demonstrable relevant Child Care Giving/ Playwork Level 3 experience.

E5 – Knowledge and skills typically gained following an extended period of training resulting in a formal qualification (SVQ level 3 minimum)

E7 – Organisational and time management skills, as well as the ability to plan and organise short-term activities and events

E8 – Evidence of being able to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a team

E9 – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

E10 – Ability to work on own initiative

E11 – Strong interpersonal and influencing skills

E14 – Experience of working independently and dealing with unforeseen problems

E15 – IT Literacy to a role specific standard

E16 – Required to undertake continuous professional development (CPD)

D1 – Evidence of identifying opportunities for improvement and developing and implementing best practice.

D2 – Extensive knowledge and experience of relevant service systems, processes, policies and working practices
