An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Practice Manager to join our Leadership Team in a friendly, dynamic and forward-thinking single-site practice in central Harrogate.
Job Summary
The role is to support the Practice Managers in all aspects of practice functionality, motivating and managing staff, optimising efficiency and overall performance, ensuring the practice achieves its long-term strategic objectives in a safe and effective working environment. The Deputy Practice Manager will focus on the day-to-day operability of the practice, quality & continuous improvement, confidentiality, collaborative working, service delivery, learning and development and promoting a positive working environment.

Main duties of the job
The Deputy Practice Manager is responsible for:
- Supporting the Practice Managers in the day-to-day operations of the practice, ensuring staff achieve their primary responsibilities.
- Supporting the end-of-month payroll process to ensure staff are paid on time.
- Leading on the pre-employment checks and induction of new staff (such as DBS checks, induction timetables and ensuring new starters are set up on appropriate IT systems).
- Providing leadership and guidance for the Reception Manager and giving support to the practice admin teams.
- Developing, implementing and embedding an effective practice training programme for all staff (clinical and administrative) liaising with external agencies when necessary and maintaining a training record for all staff.
- Responding and resolving local IT issues, where appropriate.
- Maintaining the staff intranet portal, ensuring training records, annual leave entitlements and significant event database is kept up to date and accurate.
- Organising the calibration of medical equipment on behalf of the practice.
- Overseeing the administrative elements of QOF, liaising with GPs, Nursing Staff and Administrators.
- Actively encouraging and promoting the use of patient online services and NHS app.
- Updating and acting as the focal point for the practice website and social media channels.
- Supporting the Practice Managers in coordinating and managing the patient complaints process and ensuring that all staff are fully conversant with the complaints procedure.

Strayside Health is a recently formed practice (following the successful merger of East Parade and Park Parade Surgeries in April 2025). Before the merger, both practices worked closely together for a number of years, sharing our Nurse Team and back-office staff (medical secretaries, data quality and administration teams). Secondary Responsibilities: In addition to the primary responsibilities, the Deputy Practice Manager may be requested to:
- Support the audit lead, effectively utilising the audit cycle where relevant to the role.
- Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care.
- Support and participate in shared learning within the practice.
- Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach i.e. root cause analysis (RCA).
- Develop practice administrative and clinical protocols in line with the needs of the patient and current legislation.
