This is a fantastic opportunity to start your career in communications while gaining hands-on experience across a busy Communications team.

As a Communications Assistant Apprentice, you’ll support a range of external communications activity, helping to plan, create and deliver content across media, digital, social and corporate channels. You’ll work closely with the External Communications Leader and wider Communications team, getting involved in content creation, media monitoring, campaign support, research and communications projects. You’ll also gain valuable experience of how communications support a large organisation and its reputation. Throughout the apprenticeship, you’ll develop your writing, digital, organisational and communications skills, building your confidence and taking on more responsibility as you progress.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Support the creation and delivery of communications across media, digital, social and corporate channels
  • Draft, format and proofread content for different audiences
  • Help plan and schedule content across communications channels
  • Monitor media coverage and support media reporting and research
  • Support the delivery of communications campaigns, projects and initiatives
  • Help organise and deliver corporate events and colleague engagement activities
  • Maintain media lists, campaign trackers and communications records
  • Carry out research and gather information to support content development
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Communications team
  • Build your communications skills and experience, taking on more responsibility as you progress through your apprenticeship

What You’ll Need

  • A genuine interest in communications, media, storytelling or public relations
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when proofreading and preparing content
  • Good organisation and time management skills
  • A positive, proactive and willing-to-learn attitude
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and digital platforms
  • An understanding of social media and digital communications
  • The ability to work well as part of a team and build positive relationships
  • The motivation to develop your skills and take on new challenges
