The Trust is looking to build a talent pool of appointable Clinical Advisor EOC (Validators) to work in the Clinical Assessment Service in the Emergency Operations Centres in Bedford, Chelmsford or Norwich as vacancies become available. We are looking for Paramedics and Nurses (Nurses must have adult nursing qualifications). We require a minimum of 18.75 hours per week.

There is an initial training period of approximately 3 weeks which will need to be completed on a full-time basis. Clinicians must be able to work at either our Norwich or Chelmsford Control Rooms. We cannot currently support agile or remote working for this role.

Main duties of the job include intercepting lower acuity and clinically appropriate 999 calls, providing advice and arranging safe and appropriate care pathways for these patients. The overriding aim is to appropriately and safely reduce 999 ambulance demand and A&E admissions. The candidate will be an integral part of the evolution and establishment of a Regional CAS that will develop a multi-disciplinary approach to 999 call interception as well as routine triage of non-emergency 999 calls. The successful applicant must hold an NMC nursing registration OR HCPC registered paramedic.

For a thorough understanding of the role, including all its specific requirements and responsibilities, please consult the attached Job Description and Person Specification.

How to apply:

  • Step 1 - Read the advert and the Job Description and Person Specification (attached)
  • Step 2 - Complete the Supporting Statement - Your statement needs to indicate how you meet each of the criteria contained within the Person Specification.
  • Step 3 - Complete the online application and upload your statement. Please note, CVs are not accepted.

Essential criteria include currently having Nursing registration with NMC or Paramedic registration with HCPC AND 2 years post-registration experience in a clinical environment, experience in the field of A&E, Medical or Primary Care setting, and previous experience of face-to-face or telephone triage.

All references from current and previous employers will be sought via their Human Resources Department and must cover a minimum of 3 years employment. All appointments will be subject to currently having a clean disciplinary record.

We aim to represent and value the diversity of our local communities through our workforce and service provision. We therefore positively encourage applications from under-represented groups.
