Job overview

At EEAST we are proud to offer a wider integrated Urgent and Emergency Care System, that responds to our community’s needs.

We are looking for passionate Leading Operations Managers to continue our delivery in providing compassionate, effective and safe emergency care, within our modern ambulance service.

You will need to be a people focused individual with a drive to improve staff welfare and operational efficiencies, putting patient care and staff well‑being at the heart of your decision making.

If shortlisted, all applicants will participate in a full day assessment centre, and candidates will find out the outcome on completion of all assessment centres.

We plan to hold assessment centres during February 2026.

Main duties of the job

As part of an area‑based team, your general day‑to‑day duties will include the running of your local station, in conjunction with the Local Area Manager and Team Leaders.

In this role, you will be rostered to ensure coverage at multiple work settings, including response duties to 999 calls and incidents, A&E Departments for hospital liaison, ambulance stations to conduct meetings and appraisals, and other settings that may require operational managerial presence.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Experienced HCPC registered Paramedic who has completed the NQP pathway or NMC registered Nurse post Pre‑Hospital Practitioner pathway/or equivalent with at least 12 months frontline ambulance service experience.
  • A first Line Manager’s qualification equivalent to ILM level 3 or Managerial qualification or equivalent experience, demonstrable experience of working in a supervisory role or above.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt styles.
  • Initiating, building and maintaining relationships with internal and external key stakeholders;
  • A full UK manual driving licence with C1 category, and with no more than 3 penalty points.

Person specification

Knowledge, Training & Experience

  • Educated to Degree Level in relevant subject, or equivalent level qualification, or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area
  • Blue Light driver trained, or ability to achieve this standard.
  • A full UK manual driving licence with C1 category, and with no more than 3 penalty points.
  • Experienced HCPC registered Paramedic who has completed the NQP pathway or NMC registered Nurse post Pre‑Hospital Practitioner pathway/or equivalent with at least 12 months frontline ambulance service experience.
  • Experience of monitoring budgets and business planning processes.
  • NARU occupational standards Operational Commander Accreditation, or willing to complete within the next 12 months.
  • A first Line Manager’s qualification equivalent to ILM level 3 or Managerial qualification or equivalent experience, demonstrable experience of working in a supervisory role or above.

Communication

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt styles and messages to match the situations and audiences including delivering difficult information and at times, in distressing or emotional situations

Analytical

  • Ability to analyse very complex issues where material is conflicting and drawn from multiple sources.
