The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

The Trust is inviting applications for Paramedics to join our HART teams.

All candidates will need to meet the personal specification as outlined in the National Physical Competencies standards for HART. (A maximum and minimum permissible weight applied for an HART operative. The maximum is 124kg and a minimum is 50kg.) Please see attached guidance.

Successful applicants will be appointed to either site as vacancies are confirmed which will be facilitated by a waiting list. Positions would be available in Great Notley (Essex) and Melbourn (Cambridgeshire).

Successful applicants should also note the following training / fitness assessments will be required:

  • Interview
  • Occupational Health Assessments
  • National Fitness Test – 1 day assessment*
  • In house training
  • Initial Residential training

Main duties of the job

Each team member will need to be a HCPC registered Paramedic who has successfully completed their NQP training and signed off as a Senior (band 6) Paramedic, who will undergo development in the use of various different forms of PPE. All staff will be trained in the use of CBRN PPE, Swift Water Rescue, Safe Working at Height and responding to firearms incidents however, only some staff will be trained in the USAR skills.

Operational HART duties will include responding, as a single operative, to conventional 999 emergency calls using the HART RRVs as well as responding to HART specific calls as part of a 24/7 emergency team.

All team members will be required to work shift patterns which will involve night duties and weekend working. Applicants should note that the successful post-holders will be working to the HART job description, and will also be expected to undertake necessary residential training.

Job responsibilities

Those successful at interview will undertake a minimum of 7 weeks training at various times over the subsequent months following offer, some of this training will be residential.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Full UK Driving Licence (up to 3 points may be considered dependant on point code)
  • Category C1
  • Trust approved emergency driving qualification
  • HCPC registered Paramedic
  • Educated to degree/diploma level in Paramedicine or equivalent experience
  • completed the NQP Pathway, this should be over a 2-year period obtaining experience in clinical practice, or less if progressed through the national fast track programme
  • ALS, PHTLS, PHEC or other advanced clinical courses
  • AIT and/or SORT Trained

Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in complex, contentious and sensitive situations
  • Ability to develop and adapt to change
  • Problem solving ability
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of information

Experience

  • Suitable experience in Ambulance operations (c.2 years)
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, responsibility and accountability
  • Experience of supervision, mentorship and development of a range of clinical staff in relevant practice settings
  • Healthcare experience within NHS, nursing or voluntary organisation
