East of England Ambulance Service Trust (EEAST) are welcoming applications from experienced EMTs on a full-time basis working on the Stansted Airport contract. This post is a secondment for 1 year; however, the contract is for longer. Therefore, all staff will have to reapply each year to remain on the Airport Contract. This will be a competitive process.

Main duties of the job: At EEAST, we expect our clinical workforce to deliver the very best care to our patients with the support of a dedicated team of clinical staff, volunteers, call handlers, dispatchers, and support staff. In addition, paramedics will routinely work with other allied health professionals in partnership organisations in both hospital and community-based services to ensure timely referrals and discharge. You will be providing medical care to members of the public and staff who travel through Stansted Airport.

The contract is a secondment for 1 year, working on a DSA as part of a crew, on a rotation with operational shifts. A shift on an ambulance is like no other workplace. You will operate in a wide range of environments, across both urban and rural areas managing everything from birth to end of life, chronic conditions to critical illness or injury. Tablets are issued to all permanent clinical staff, allowing access to electronic patient care records, up-to-date clinical guidelines, incident management, and alternative care pathway applications.

Upon successful completion of your application and pre-employment checks, you will be invited to attend a two-week induction at one of our Education Training Centres followed by a supportive local induction at your allocated locality.

Working for our organisation: EEAST employs over 5,000 staff with a further 1,000+ volunteers who cover 7,500 square miles and care for a population of more than 6 million. We manage a fleet of over 1,000 vehicles including double-staffed ambulances, rapid response cars, operational commander response vehicles, patient transport, and support service vehicles. The East of England works alongside 17 Acute Trusts with Accident & Emergency services and a Major Trauma Centre in Cambridge. Access is available to neighbouring MTCs such as those in London.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities: To apply, you will need to be a qualified EMT. You will also be expected to provide a portfolio detailing your experience of working within the emergency ambulance service or primary healthcare setting. Applicants are expected to have an existing full C1 licence, Emergency Response Driving Qualification, pass an airport driving assessment and medical, and be able to obtain an airport pass. This job role will be based at Stansted Airport.

Person specification: Shortlisting Qualified ECA Blue Light Driving and C1. Good communication skills with the ability to communicate appropriately and effectively face to face, over the phone/radio, and in writing. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to people, listen well, and apply questioning react in a tactful, appropriate, and professional manner. Experience of dealing with people in difficult and challenging circumstances and/or ‘customer care’ environment/customer service experience. Two GCSE Grade D (or above) in any one of these three subjects: Maths, English, or Science or a pass in Functional Skills Level 2 may be accepted and will be reviewed on an individual basis. To be able to demonstrate empathy and compassion in relationships with colleagues and with patients. Be able to work as part of a team to deliver the best possible services. Be able to be resilient under pressure and to identify when support is needed for self or others. Lead by example demonstrating Trust values of care, teamwork, quality, respect, and honesty. Experience of involvement or caring for people in a health or social care environment. Knowledge of the role of current non-registered healthcare workers, including emergency care assistants and how they contribute to excellent patient care. Treats everyone as an individual and strives to understand individual need. You will be required to hold a full UK manual driving licence with a minimum of 1 year's driving experience (maximum of 3 penalty points for minor motoring offences only).
