We are looking for a dynamic thinker to support our Control Team in Stevenage. The role involves overseeing and planning patient journeys to and from home/health care settings using our cleric system and against set key performance indicators, effectively pre-planning patient journeys using available resources.

Our patients have varying clinical and mobility needs, some travel regularly with us into renal and oncology units. Our patients and staff are our priority, ensuring we show care, compassion, and empathy.

You will need a calm approach under pressure and have geographical knowledge of West Essex, Hertfordshire, and outlying areas. Customer service skills are also key as you will be liaising with patients, clinics, and our staff, keeping calm under pressure and following the Trust's vision and values.

Main duties of the job:
  • Responsibility for the control of PTS ambulance resources, including volunteer car service drivers for the current day, monitoring, and making real-time adjustments to optimise delivery and maintain an effective service and excellent standard of patient experience.
  • Forward plan patient transport, ensuring optimal use of available resources to maximise efficiency.
  • Monitor journey times, proactively rearranging journeys to support both the service and patient experience.

The successful candidate will be required to commit to and complete a 3-week training course, which will be located in various locations across the trust such as Epping and Chelmsford, and therefore will need to be able to travel to these sites independently.

The role will work on a relief basis covering a range of shifts between 06:00 - 22:00hrs, 7 days a week. A 9-week rota in advance will be made available. You will be required to have some flexibility and be reliable.

  • Qualification: English and Math Grade C or equivalent/experience.
  • Experience in the role as Day Controller and/or Planner of resources.
  • Skills: Excellent Organisation and Communication Skills, Experience of organising and prioritising workload, Experience in resource management.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of Geographic areas, Knowledge of PTS, Knowledge of GRS and Cleric System.
