Make Ready Services has vacancies for roles which involve preparing emergency ambulances for operational duty and includes cleaning vehicles, checking basic serviceability and equipment, and restocking the medical consumables. This dynamic role has shift patterns which cover both days and nights.

Main duties of the job:

As a Make Ready Operative (MRO) you will typically work in a small team with a supervisor overseeing the work and on hand for support. As well as the vital role of preparing emergency vehicles for operational duties, you will support the management of stock and equipment assets and restock module bags destined for the vehicles. Significant care and attention to detail is required in module bag preparation whilst vehicle preparation is undertaken with a record required of every check undertaken.

The requirement to work shifts includes nights and weekends and a degree of flexibility will be required to ensure our service delivery is maintained. You will also need good communication skills and a basic understanding of IT will be essential along with the ability to work to tight deadlines. Your role will also involve moving ambulances and vehicles so a UK driving licence with a commitment to attaining a full C1 licence within 12 months of commencement of the role is mandatory. You will need to have a high attention to detail, an ability to follow step by step instructions and to be able to work as part of a team in a customer focussed environment to succeed in this role.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

  • Full Manual UK Driving Licence Category B (maximum of 6 penalty points).
  • NVQ Level 3 in appropriate subject, or relevant experience.
  • English and Maths GCSE Level 4, or equivalent level of education.
  • UK Manual Driving Licence Category C1 or must be willing to obtain C1 within 12 months of employment.
  • Completion of RFID/Telematics internal course.
  • ECDL Pass, or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Experience of working in a customer-focused environment
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines and managing/prioritising tasks
  • Knowledge and experience of stores management

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Intermediate numeracy, literacy and IT skills (ie handheld PDA).
