We’re recruiting for a Resource Business Partner on a fixed term basis ; this is a position that sits within the Operations team.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with functional managers and Trade Union representatives to deliver an efficient structure of diagrams and links structures for all rosters.
- Manage team performance, leading a culture of devolved accountability through the use of key performance indicators.
- Line Management responsibilities for team of Resource Clerks, ensuring roles and responsibilities are delivered consistently through quality and assurance checks.
Providing training and competency development support is delivered to ensure accurate and efficient resource deployment, muti-skilling within the team to support succession planning and cross cover.
- Delivery of quality and assurance checks to identify continual improvement opportunities to driver efficiency, accuracy and reduction in rostering and payroll errors.
- Provide specialist resource advice and guidance to key stakeholders to ensure the resource delivery plan meets both present and future business needs.
- Ensure the rostering systems remain updated to accurately process rostering and payroll data
- Provide accurate and timely absence and unavailability data and information to support the improvement of utilisation.
- Lead the change process for timetable changes to ensure timebound milestones are met for changes to diagrams, links and rosters; and are in line with relevant Trade Union agreements.
- Build and maintain effective working between the resource team and control to maximise efficiency for normal day to day operations and periods of perturbation.
- Develop and manage robust processes to deliver efficient and accurate rostering practises
- Provide SME support to the resource strategy and deployment manager in the review of workforce establishment calculations, workforce plan and overall resource strategy.
- Deliver optimum train performance through the delivery of accurate and timely rostering, particularly in times of perturbation.
What we need from you
- Experience and understanding of complex rostering practises, ideally within the transport industry
- Demonstrable management experience, ideally across a multi-site setting
- Analytical capability to collate, read and interpret KPI data and identify the key themes, including an overview of risks and opportunities
- Demonstrable ability to interpret and apply relevant conditions of service and local codifications
- Practical experience or a good understanding of operating within a trade union environment
- Computer literate with an understanding of industry recognised rostering systems
- Ability to engage and influence stake holders at all levels
- Experience of delivering performance improvement
- An understanding of fatigue management
- Strong leadership skills

If you're successful in this role, you'll be expected to support our frontline colleagues at some points throughout the year.
This might be undertaking safety critical work, for which you'll receive training, but it could just be helping out with Customer Service when our stations are busy.
