The predicted salary is between 25024 - 31280 £ per year.

As Assistant Technician, you will be part of the maintenance team working towards set production targets to ensure trains meet ever exacting and challenging standards and are delivered to customers on time.

In this role you will:

  • Service, maintain, repair and overhaul traction and rolling stock components to the designated maintenance exam standard
  • Carry out cleaning and labouring duties for all areas of the workshop and vehicles
  • Operate fuel line and depot equipment
  • Drive and operate cranes and road vehicles if a valid license is held
  • Ensure all work is carried out to defined quality and safety standards
  • Assist with special projects and additional tasks specified by depot management

You will have practical experience of maintenance within a busy and quality focused engineering environment. It would be preferable to hold certification or licences for depot equipment, but training can be provided if necessary. It is desirable to have knowledge or experience of railway industry recognised standards, however this is not essential, and we would welcome applications from candidates with a background in other similar maintenance and repair environments.

Our depots operate 24/7 and you will work shifts, for which you will receive a shift allowance. You also need to live within 60 minutes’ travelling time of the depot or be prepared to re‑locate if offered the role.

East Midlands Railway is a non-discriminatory employer committed to the recruitment and promotion of all on the basis of ability and merit irrespective of disability, race, gender, health, social class, sexual preference, marital status or age. We’ll treat your application fairly and assess you for the job based on merit and skills. We promise to treat you fairly, consistently and with respect throughout the application, assessment and selection process.
