We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated lawyer to join our legal team. You will provide legal advice and support to the Council and its departments in connection with procurement and commercial contract matters. This is an exciting time to join our recently reviewed and expanding legal team, giving you the opportunity to really make this role your own and have a strong influence on how we deliver our services. We are looking for inspired and proactive people who are committed to new ways of thinking and working and who have the transferrable skills to be an asset to this ambitious and dynamic team. The team adopts an agile working policy with flexible working arrangements which includes access to a range of bases as well as remote or home working. The team are very approachable and have developed very strong and resilient arrangements for communication and support.

Key responsibilities

  • You will be a practising lawyer (Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive) with a good understanding of contract and procurement law including disputes.
  • Joining a dedicated and supportive team in Legal Services, you’ll be committed to working efficiently to deliver timely accurate and effective advice.

Skills and experience

  • To be a Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive (FCILEx).
  • Experience of drafting legal documents.
  • The ability to give clear and accurate legal advice, including training.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
