Amber Valley Borough Council is seeking an exceptional candidate to join our Senior Management Team as Corporate Director of Place. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of Amber Valley Borough Council, leading with the CEO on transformation, including local government reorganisation, developing policy, and delivering services that improve quality of life, grow our local economy, and protect the natural environment.

You will lead major outward facing services functions, including waste, street cleansing and grounds maintenance, parks, economic growth, estates, and leisure. This role involves managing significant capital and revenue budgets and delivering high-profile projects that make a real difference to Amber Valley residents.

You will bring high levels of strategic acumen and the ability to provide leadership to work across the Council to ensure that corporate projects and priorities are achieved. Focused on cultivating a high-performance, cost-effective culture, you will leverage all aspects of the role to improve outcomes for every resident of Amber Valley.

The successful candidate will have a proven collegiate approach, able to evidence where they have supported colleagues and partners to deliver priorities and be able to demonstrate the highest standards of integrity and dedication to public service. They will also be flexible in approach and be willing to alter the range of services under their leadership, or lead on corporate priorities outside their area of work, according to the needs of the Council.

The appointment process will include testing and both technical and Member panel interviews.
