Bolsover District Council is a dynamic and ambitious organisation that delivers excellent services to the community while driving economic growth and environmental sustainability for the district. We are recruiting a Governance and Civic Officer to our small but hardworking team who manage the Council's democratic processes and support the civic functions of the Council. The service requires an enthusiastic person to work alongside Councillors, senior officers, parish and town councils and members of the public.

The successful candidate will support a range of committee meetings and assist with organising civic events. Training will be provided as well as ongoing personal development including support to study for the ADSO Certificate in Democratic Services Knowledge or the ADSO Diploma in Democratic Services Knowledge. The ability to occasionally work unsocial/out of hours events or evening meetings is required.

To be successful you will need:

  • Knowledge of, and an interest in, local authority decision-making
  • The ability to approach politically sensitive issues with diplomacy and tact
  • The ability to produce accurate minutes
  • The ability to work to deadlines and a great attention to detail
