Derbyshire County Council on behalf of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site Partnership is looking for a Coordinator with expertise and experience of dealing with World Heritage Site conservation within the UK planning and listed building consent systems.

The 15-mile-long Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site stretches from Derby at its south through to Matlock Bath in the north. It is the birthplace of the modern factory system that altered the way people lived and worked across the globe. The legacy of the mills, settlements and landscape the early industrialists created is a distinctive, attractive and vibrant valley that required protection for all of humankind.

You will be able to:

  • Respond to planning consultations and advise Local Planning Authorities on behalf of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site Partnership.
  • Provide advice on promoting and interpreting the unique heritage of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site in accordance with UNESCO requirements.
  • Work in partnership and coordinate the delivery of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site Management plan, particularly those actions which relate to Conservation and Planning.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small team that is responsible for coordinating activities relating to the appropriate protection, conservation, presentation, and transmission of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site.
