Part-Time Healthy Lifestyles Instructor
Salary/Grade: £28,598 to £31,022 per annum pro-rata / Grade 7
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 28 hours per week
Primary Location: Killamarsh Active, Stanley St, Killamarsh, Sheffield S21 1EL

The hours of the post vary over a 7 day period, with rotas in place so you’ll know what and when you are working in advance. There may be times when flexibility within rotas is required for service demand. Please note that the hours of the post are subject to change due to operational demands.

A vacancy for a part-time Healthy Lifestyles Instructor has arisen to join our team at Killamarsh Active. Killamarsh Active offers a great working environment for staff, with new facilities introduced in 2022. The sports centre comprises:
- 4 courts sports hall
- 2 squash courts
- fitness studio
- spin studio
- large soft play kingdom
- 80 station 2 floor fitness suite
- café
- 3G football pitch
- meeting rooms
Candidates must be exercise orientated, have a good understanding of a wide range of exercise activities and must hold a Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification. Exercise Referral Instructor and Cardiac Rehabilitation Instructor qualifications, if not held, are required to be undertaken and passed within 12 months. Group exercise teaching or instructing experience would be an advantage.
A flexible approach is required as the successful candidate may be required to work at Clay Cross Active, Dronfield Active and Eckington Active as service needs dictate. The successful candidates will be subject to a Disclosure carried out by the DBS at the Enhanced Level.
To be successful you will need:
- NVQ level 2 Gym Instructor (or equivalent)
- Exercise Referral Instructor qualification, e.g. Wright Foundation within 12 months
- BACR Cardiac Rehab Phase 4 qualification or gain qualification within 12 months of starting post
- Level 2 Aqua Instructor Qualification or gain qualification within 6 months of starting post
- Good knowledge and understanding of a wide range of health and wellbeing activities
- Flexible approach to working patterns and hours to meet service needs and customer expectations
- Experience working in Exercise by Referral Schemes & delivering fitness classes
