About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced IT Engineer to play a key role in supporting and developing EMCCA’s modern Microsoft cloud and endpoint environment. This is a hands-on technical role, combining strong 2nd line support capability with the opportunity to improve services, strengthen security, and contribute to a resilient, user-focused ICT function.
You’ll provide technical support and administration across Microsoft 365, Azure/Entra ID, Intune/Autopilot and endpoint security, while also delivering onsite support, coordinating with our Managed Service Provider (MSP) and SOC, and contributing to service governance and cyber assurance. This role suits someone who enjoys solving complex problems, working autonomously within clear frameworks, and collaborating with colleagues and partners to deliver high-quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical administration and support for Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint/OneDrive, Teams), Azure/Entra ID, Intune/Autopilot, and endpoint security baselines.
- Resolve incidents and service requests, including escalated issues, ensuring accurate logging, clear communication, and timely resolution through the ITSM tool.
- Deliver onsite support and equipment installations across EMCCA sites, undertaking site health checks and coordinating changes and escalations with the MSP.
- Administer identity and access management, including licence management, enterprise application onboarding (SSO), and Conditional Access policies.
- Apply configuration, compliance and security policies via Intune/Autopilot and manage device lifecycle processes (joiners, movers, leavers).
- Work with suppliers and SaaS vendors, raising and tracking tickets, validating fixes, and supporting service catalogue and knowledge base updates.
- Contribute to service governance activities including change enablement, root cause analysis, knowledge management, and Cyber Essentials Plus evidence.
- Develop and maintain automation and reporting using tools such as PowerShell and Microsoft Graph.
- Create and maintain runbooks and knowledge articles, supporting a shift-left approach and continuous service improvement.
What We’re Looking For
Essential experience and skills
- Proven experience delivering 2nd line support in a production Microsoft 365 and Intune environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Windows, iOS and Android operating systems and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Solid understanding of desktop support environments and broader ICT infrastructure, including cloud platforms, networks and communications systems.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of complex issues, and deliver high-quality outcomes within agreed frameworks.
- Experience using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, or working with Sentinel playbooks and security tooling.
- A valid UK driving licence with business-use motor insurance.
Qualifications
- A relevant technical qualification (e.g. Microsoft Certified Desktop Engineer) or equivalent practical experience.
- ITIL certification or equivalent hands-on service management experience.
