East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire) is a well-respected and award winning membership, representation and business support organisation that aims to enhance businesses and communities in the three cities and three counties. With more than 4,100 members and working with 12,000 businesses each year, we have established a reputation as the voice of the region’s business community. Based at: Nottingham with agile working. Additional travel may be required. Contract: Permanent, full-time (35 hours per week).
1. WHY THE POST EXISTS
Support businesses across the East Midlands to trade internationally with confidence. We’re looking for a seasoned, specialist business adviser to help businesses start, grow and scale their overseas trade activity. You’ll:
- Provide practical, expert support to businesses navigating exporting, importing, market entry and international trade compliance.
- Work directly with organisations of all sizes to help them access new markets, manage risk, overcome barriers to trade and build sustainable international sales growth.
- Deliver high quality one to one advice, workshops, webinars and trade services.
- Contribute to the strengthening of the international competitiveness of businesses across the East Midlands, supporting long term economic growth in the region.
2. THE KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Provide tailored one to one international trade advice to member businesses at varying stages of export maturity, from first-time exporters to experienced international traders.
- Support businesses with export and import planning, including market selection, routes to market, pricing strategies, distribution models, and partner identification.
- Advise on international trade compliance, including Incoterms®, customs procedures, rules of origin, documentation requirements, tariffs, and non tariff barriers.
