We are a fast-growing and well-respected construction and property development company based in Mansfield, delivering high-quality residential and commercial projects across the Midlands and wider UK. Due to ongoing expansion, we are looking for a skilled and confident Accounts Manager to lead our finance function from our head office in Mansfield. This is a full-time, office-based role, offering a great opportunity to become a key part of a professional, driven, and close-knit team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all day-to-day finance activities, including accounts payable/receivable and bank reconciliations
- Maintain and manage our Xero accounting software (or similar)
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC deadlines
- Manage and submit monthly CIS returns with full compliance
- Support payroll processes and pension contributions (liaising with payroll providers)
- Produce monthly management accounts, P&L reports, and cash flow forecasts
- Assist the MD with budgeting, cost control, and financial planning
- Maintain accurate and organised financial records
- Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, clients, and HMRC as required
- Constantly review systems and processes to identify efficiencies and improvements
The Ideal Candidate:
- Proven experience in a similar accounts/finance role, ideally within the construction industry
- Confident user of Xero or other cloud-based accounting software
- Good working knowledge of VAT rules and the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Professional and confident communicator with both internal and external stakeholders
- AAT qualified or equivalent preferred, but not essential if backed by strong experience
