The predicted salary is between 42000 - 47000 £ per year.
The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year). Part-time hours / sessional posts will be pro-rated accordingly.
Hourly rate of pay: £20.13 - £22.51. This is a 39 week sessional post i.e. working hours will be during school term time plus in-service days.
Days and Hours of Work: Monday - Thursday, 08:00-16:00; Friday, 08:00-13:00. To start 10th August 2026.
St. Martin's RC Primary School is an inclusive Roman Catholic Primary School in the East Lothian town of Tranent. There are six classes from P1 - P7 and a 24 pupil capacity non-denominational nursery class which operates within the term time 38 week model of 1140 hours.
St Martin's is a single storey building set in extensive grounds. There is a dining room and a gym/assembly hall, a library and various other inviting learning spaces. Pupil and family needs are met within a warm ethos of care and respect. Staff are committed to ensuring every child receives a high quality education and support children to achieve their potential. This post is for a Senior Early Years Support Practitioner to lead a passionate team of professionals within our nursery provision and ensure continued improvement through self-evaluation.
This creative team enhance children’s learning experiences through a holistic approach and commitment to outdoor learning and community involvement such as visits to the community garden.
To work as part of and supervise on a day to day basis, a team of early learning and childcare practitioners, in delivering a high quality child centred service which supports the needs of children and families and enables each child to achieve their potential within a caring, safe and welcoming environment.

Qualifications
You must be educated to HNC level in Early Education and Childcare or hold SNNB/HNC/SVQ3 qualifications in Childcare/Education or equivalent and be able to evidence additional learning and knowledge of current practice and legislation in relation to Early Learning and Childcare.
Scottish Social Services Council: SSSC registration is an essential requirement of this role. If you are appointed and are not already a member of the relevant section of the SSSC Register, you will be required to apply for registration within 3 months of your start date to ensure that you are registered within the required 6 months.

This post is considered as a Regulated Role with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups will be required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
