Musselburgh Grammar School is a vibrant secondary school serving the town of Musselburgh and the nearby village of Whitecraig. Located 5 miles east of Edinburgh city centre, the school has approximately 800 pupils and over 100 staff. Our vision is one of ambition and inspiration, and we ensure every young person receives the very best at MGS.
Our Modern Languages Faculty is in an exciting time of change and improvement, and this is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic, inspiring and committed teacher of Modern Languages. You will be part of a team of enthusiastic teachers who are passionate about teaching language and giving our young people a strong foundation in this area of the curriculum. You must be able to teach Spanish across all levels of the curriculum, and ideally teach one more language; we are flexible about which second language. We consider part‑time applications.

Job Details
- Teaching assigned classes together with associated preparation and correction
- Developing the school curriculum
- Assessing, recording and reporting on the work of pupils
- Preparing pupils for examinations and assisting with their administration
- Providing advice and guidance to pupils on issues related to their education
- Promoting and safeguarding the health, welfare and safety of pupils
- Working in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals
- Undertaking appropriate and agreed continuing professional development

- Registered with GTCS as a teacher of relevant subject
- Permanent Posts: GTCS Full registration (General)
- Temporary Posts: GTCS Full registration (General) / Provisional registration
This post is considered a Regulated Role with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups will be required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
Applicants who have spent more than 3 months working or living abroad outwith the UK in the last 5 years will be required to present a copy of an overseas criminal record check.
