Hourly rate of pay: £34.83 - £39.21

Days and Hours of Work: Monday - Friday, 09:00-17:00. Days of working are negotiable, starting and finishing times are flexible, and flexi time is applicable. To start asap.

The Community Occupational Therapy team forms part of East Lothian Rehabilitation Service (ELRS), an integrated service within East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership. The ELRS service comprises Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Community Care Workers and Assistant Practitioners across 3 cluster bases.

The Community Occupational Therapy Service Manager post is a new role that will be part of the East Lothian Rehabilitation Service integrated managing team and is based in East Lothian Community Hospital in Haddington.

As a member of the management team, you will have an opportunity to influence and lead on the future development of the Community Occupational Therapy Service within the East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership. You will manage senior staff and participate in the management team as part of ELRS. You will also be supported to develop your career and participate in training and development.

East Lothian Rehabilitation Service is a data driven service. We are committed to continuously developing our services. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute proactively to improving outcomes as part of East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership, including data collection, meeting key performance indicators and quality assurance.

The Occupational Therapy Service Manager will be responsible for representing East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership in local and strategic meetings as required, and lead the monitoring of budget management and contracts.

Experience of Community Occupational Therapy, complex case work and risk assessment is essential. You should have sound knowledge in management and the delivery of statutory Occupational Therapy services including a knowledge of Social Care policy and legislation.

You will need to be professionally qualified and registered with the HCPC and be able to demonstrate experience in staff supervision and management. This Occupational Therapy Service Manager post is an exciting opportunity to be part of the management of the Occupational Therapy Service in East Lothian.

The role will be part of the management of the Community Care Service providing a responsive and needs led Occupational Therapy service throughout East Lothian in accordance with relevant legislation, national standards, Council policies and plans with a commitment to achieve best value.

Job Requirements:

  • Relevant Qualifications: Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • Leadership/managerial postgraduate qualification or equivalent managerial experience including:
    • Supervising multiple teams of staff.
    • Managing budgets at significant levels, e.g. £1m+.
    • Leading change as opposed to contributing to a programme of change.
    • Performance management of staff e.g. management of grievances/disciplinary proceedings.
    • Delivery on KPIs of a service for which they have been responsible.
  • Evidence of a commitment to Continual Professional Development.
  • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration.
  • Driving Licence: As the duties of this role require you to effectively travel to successfully undertake the full remit of the role, you must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
  • PVG Membership: This post is considered as a Regulated Role with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020.
