The predicted salary is between 20.13 - 22.51 £ per hour.
The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week). Part-time hours will be pro-rated accordingly. Hourly rate of pay: £20.13 - £22.51. The pay scale for this post is £36,735 - £41,078. Consideration will be given to place the successful candidate on a higher point of the advertised salary scale, depending on relevant experience and transferable skills.
Days and Hours of Work: Working 2 days per week between Monday - Friday, working times to be confirmed. Days of working are negotiable. To start November 2026.
We have an exciting opportunity for Roads Officers to join a flexible team of professionals in delivering a high quality service within East Lothian Council Roads Services team. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who has knowledge and experience in the inspection and maintenance of a road network. You will undertake the daily operation of the Scottish Road Works Register, issuing notices, coordinating works and monitoring compliance with regulations. You will support by issuing road works instructions and ensuring all duties and responsibilities are fulfilled in terms of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
The candidate will need to be confident with good verbal and written communication skills who can quickly establish good working relationships. You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team of technical staff and will engage with a wide and diverse audience (technical and non-technical) as well as members of the public.
It is expected that the individual will be suitably educated to minimum HNC/SVQ Level 2 in Civil Engineering or related discipline and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience. You will be working within an office environment and will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within beautiful East Lothian. You will need to have an ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service.
