The predicted salary is between 33500 - 36000 £ per year.

The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year). Part-time hours / sessional posts will be pro-rated accordingly. Hourly rate of pay: £16.14 - £17.24. This is a 39-week sessional post i.e., working hours will be during school term time plus in-service days.

Days and Hours of Work: Monday - Thursday, 08:30-15:25; Friday, 08:30-12:15. To start asap.

Knox Academy is a comprehensive school situated in Haddington in East Lothian. At census 2025 the roll was 922. Our Pupil Support Workers are an important and valued part of our integrated Pupil Support Team. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they can:

  • Communicate clearly and kindly with young people to help reduce any barriers to presence, participation and achievement in school.
  • Work as part of the team around children with a range of learning needs, building and maintaining strong relationships in the wider school community.
  • Exhibit the interpersonal skills required to play a full part in safeguarding and nurturing young people, offering the right balance of challenge and support.
  • Use their initiative and work responsively to meet the needs of the young people in their care.
  • Commit to viewing themselves as a lifelong learner, seeking out and taking up opportunities to continually improve their practice.

The role is varied with day-to-day responsibilities including one-to-one sessions with young people, small group interventions and communication with families. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to young people’s lives.

As part of the Pupil Support Team, provide support to secondary aged pupils (including Pupil Support Base) with a range of social emotional and behavioural difficulties in accordance with agreed aims, objectives and standards. Relevant Qualifications: A minimum of SVQ1/Standard Grade General level English/Maths or National 4 English/Maths or Literacy/Numeracy or Intermediate 1 Communication/Numeracy and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.

PVG Membership: This post is considered as a Regulated Role with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020.
