Primary Class Teacher - Full-Time/Part-Time

The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week). Part-time hours will be pro-rated accordingly. Temporary maternity cover until December 2027. Dunbar Primary School is a large, vibrant and inclusive school community, split across two campuses with a current roll of over 1,100 pupils from Nursery to Primary 7. Our John Muir Campus hosts fifteen P1–P3 classes and five nursery rooms, as well as our Authority provision for children with complex needs, The Cove, Our Lochend Campus comprises nineteen P4–P7 classes. The successful candidate will have experience of teaching first level, ideally Primary 3. They will be initially based in the Primary 3 stage and have experience of delivering high quality teaching and learning and assessment for all. You will be experienced in making effective adaptations for learners with more complex additional support needs and to be able to plan and implement differentiated learning experiences that support and challenge all learners. Our preferred candidate will have experience delivering high-quality learning, teaching and assessment in line with Curriculum for Excellence and be expected to create a nurturing, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment where all children feel valued, safe and ready to learn. They will also have knowledge of how to provide effective transition support as our learners move from Primary 3 to Primary 4, ensuring children and families experience smooth, well planned and emotionally secure transition between stages. Our preferred candidate will a deep knowledge of learning and teaching based on their continuous professional development. They will be able to demonstrate the impact of this through data informed analysis and show reflective adaptations to their teaching and learning based on self evaluation. Our preferred candidate should be able to demonstrate their commitment to developing the culture of their school community and classroom through effective engagement with pupils and parents.
