Hourly rate of pay: £19.45 - £21.75
Days and Hours of Work: Monday - Friday, 09:00-17:00; 1 in 4 Saturday mornings per month, 09:30-13:00, with 1/2 day given back midweek in lieu, to be agreed. Flexi time is applicable. To start asap.
The Library & Customer Services Officer is responsible for the supervision and line management of the staffing teams based in Prestonpans and Port Seton Libraries. Managing, supporting and developing team members is pivotal to the services we provide and as such the successful candidate must have direct management and supervisory experience for teams supporting customer service and/or library services. As the service responds to customer need and supports Council services it is crucial that staff are flexible and responsive to change. The successful post holder should have experience of managing and supporting staff through periods of change.
Libraries across East Lothian offer a range of services including Blue badge and Travel Pass applications, digital support and general enquiries. Prestonpans Library additionally operates as an area office accepting payment for Council services as well as support with a range of enquiries including Benefits, Council Tax, Housing and more. The successful candidate will be experienced in supporting staff to provide excellent customer services and develop strong IT skills. Prestonpans and Port Seton Libraries have close relationships with local primary schools facilitating regular class visits and offer a range of activities for families and the wider community. The successful candidate will have experience in working with partners to review and maintain services across communities.

Job Requirements:
- Relevant Qualifications: Educated to degree level or equivalent and/or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through significant experience of managing a team delivering customer services and/or library services.
