The predicted salary is between 33500 - 37000 £ per year.

The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year). Part-time hours / sessional posts will be pro-rated accordingly. Hourly rate of pay: £16.14 - £17.24. This is a 39 week sessional post i.e. working hours will be during school term time plus in-service days.

Days and Hours of Work: Monday - Friday, 08:30-15:25. To start asap.

Musselburgh Grammar School is a vibrant and ambitious secondary, serving the town of Musselburgh and the nearby village of Whitecraig. We believe in providing an inspiring, relevant and innovative education for our young people which best prepares them for their destination of choice post school. Our Science Faculty is well established and a popular choice with pupils. We teach general science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Lab Skills and Beekeeping.

We’re now looking for a Science Technician to join us, to support the teaching staff in providing high quality lessons for our pupils. The Science Technician will source, organise and prepare all materials, including making up stock solutions of chemicals, arranging equipment for experiments, storing and checking stock, and keeping up to date with H&S legislation relating to safe working within a scientific environment.

The successful candidate will:

  • have a background of working in a scientific environment and an understanding of related H&S guidelines
  • have a high degree of organisational skill
  • be confident in the use of IT, including (but not limited to) MS Office suite
  • have excellent communication skills
  • be able to work independently, and to deadlines

Job Requirements: Relevant Qualifications Educated to SVQ Level 2/National Certificate/Highers in Chemistry, Physics, Biology or equivalent and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.
