East Lothian Council seeks to appoint a dynamic and forward-thinking individual for the position of Teacher of Music at Rosehill High School. Our school opened in August 2023, to around 300 young people. The new secondary learning facility is designed to support creative approaches to pedagogy, with a range of adaptive teaching spaces. Alongside up-to-date and digitally enabled classrooms, there is a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) plaza, a Learning Resource Centre, extensive facilities to support the arts, and a state-of-the-art sport and leisure complex. Learning and teaching on the campus goes beyond the traditional classroom and encompasses outdoor learning and sustainability. The campus also includes a number of community and health spaces to support collaboration between a range of professionals and sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver consistently high-quality learning, teaching and assessment through inclusive pedagogical approaches.
- Exhibit the interpersonal skills required to play a full part in safeguarding and nurturing young people, offering the right balance of challenge and support.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional learning with a focus on improving outcomes for young people.
- Teach relevant subjects through S1-S6.
- Perform tasks as directed by the Head Teacher, having reasonable regard to overall teacher workload.
- Assess, record and report on the work of pupils.
- Prepare pupils for examinations and assist with their administration.
- Provide advice and guidance to pupils on issues related to their education.
- Promote and safeguard the health, welfare and safety of pupils.
- Undertake appropriate and agreed continuing professional development.
