The predicted salary is between 7 - 12 £ per hour.

Days and Hour of Work: Monday - Friday, 09:00-17:00. Starting and finishing times are flexible; flexi time is applicable. To start ASAP.

Rate of Pay:

  • Under 18 years: £7.55 per hour
  • 18-20 years: £10.00 per hour
  • 21 and over: £12.21 per hour

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Modern Apprenticeship within Council Support. As part of East Lothian Council's 'Support for Employability' commitment to promote youth opportunities in the County, this post is open to those who are aged 16 – 19 and reside in East Lothian. (For those who are disabled or care-experienced, this is extended up to and including age 29). You will be asked to confirm you meet this criteria when you complete the application form. All candidates indicating in their application that they are from a care experienced background, or have a disability are guaranteed an interview if they meet the minimum essential criteria required for the job (as per the Person Specification).

This opportunity is fixed term for 18 months and will be based across various Council Support Teams based in John Muir House, Haddington or Penston House, Macmerry. There will be ongoing support from an external training provider to achieve the SVQ Level 3 in Business Administration. The duration of the apprenticeship will be for a fixed term 18 month period. You must provide evidence of competency in literacy and numeracy skills (minimum of three standard grades level 3 passes or National 4's including English and Mathematics).

Duties: You will provide reception and administrative support. With good interpersonal skills, you will be flexible, a team player, confident and able to converse with members of the public. Daily duties will include answering the telephone, meeting the public and visitors face to face, making room bookings, photocopying, word processing and a variety of general office tasks. Training in the use of specialist software packages will be provided; however, a basic knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office packages is desirable.
