We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join Protective Services in one of Scotland’s most attractive and rapidly growing areas, with over 40 miles of coastline, rolling countryside, high quality food and drink, world renowned links golf courses and excellent transport links to Edinburgh.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the delivery of a new in house pest control service for East Lothian Council.
Working as a member of the Pest Control Team, the successful candidate will carry out front line pest control duties across a range of domestic, commercial and Council owned premises, contributing to the safe, effective and customer focused delivery of the service.
Duties will include investigating pest related enquiries, identifying pests and the extent of infestations, providing advice to customers, and implementing appropriate treatment programmes in line with legislation, best practice and health and safety requirements.
The role will also involve maintaining accurate records and supporting proactive inspections and surveys.
Where required, the postholder will assist with wider Protective Services and Environmental Health activities in response to service demand.
Applicants should hold the RSPH Level 2 Certificate in Pest Management (or equivalent) and be able to demonstrate relevant experience in pest control activities, along with a strong customer focused approach and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Job Details To actively contribute to achieving the aim of Protective Services in promoting, protecting, and enhancing the health, safety and wellbeing of people living, working, and spending time in East Lothian and to support Council Services in managing the risks associated with delivering and maintaining services in our local communities.
To contribute to the effective delivery of a high-quality professional pest control service by East Lothian Council, including:
- Discharge the Council’s statutory responsibilities for ensuring that the Council area is kept as far as practicable free from pests.
- Provision of a customer-focused response to requests for pest control services in both domestic and commercial premises.
- Provision of a wide range of pest control duties including pest identification, provision of advice, developing and implementing treatment programmes, and carrying out proactive surveys.
- Ensure the updating of management information systems.

Job Requirements Relevant Qualifications Educated to HNC level or equivalent and/or able to demonstrate a significant level of pest control knowledge, training/ experience.
RSPH Level 2 Certificate in Pest Management or equivalent.
Driving Licence As the duties of this role require you to effectively travel to successfully undertake the full remit of the role, you must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.* (*Where a disability precludes you from obtaining a driving licence, ELC will take into account its responsibility to make reasonable adjustments to allow for your disability.) Level 1 Disclosure Clearance This role requires Level 1 Disclosure Clearance to allow access to the Public Sector Network.
ELC will submit a Police Act Disclosure application on behalf of the preferred candidate and receipt of the subsequent certificate will be required prior to commencement .
