The predicted salary is between 13 - 17 £ per hour.

Hourly rate of pay: £16.14 - £17.24. Locum Emergency Care Workers are required to work on an 'as and when required' basis throughout East Lothian.

Working Days & Times: Working days are between Monday and Sunday, times will vary as staff are required. See potential working times below.

  • Day shifts: 07:00-14:30
  • Day shifts: 07:00-16:00
  • Back shifts: 14:30-22:00
  • Back shifts: 15:45-21:00
  • Night shifts: 20:30-07:30

Locum Post Available:

  • Emergency Wrap Around Service - responding to short term emergency care situations in the community, such as cases to prevent people being admitted into hospital.
  • Emergency Referral Service - responding to emergency situations in the community for example palliative clients or emergency breakdown in care.
  • Emergency Response Service - responding to emergency calls in the community, such as falls and alarm calls.

Job Details: To deliver an emergency service (24 hours 7 days per week) providing personal care and support to older people living in their own homes, in line with Department policies, procedures and standards.

Job Requirements:

  • Relevant Qualifications: SVQ 2 in Social Services and Healthcare and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience. If you do not hold the above qualification, you will be required to undertake a course of study to obtain an SVQ Level 2 qualification within the required timescale to meet the requirements of SSSC.
  • SSSC registration: This is an essential requirement of this role. If you are appointed and are not already a member of the relevant sections of the SSSC Register, you will be required to apply for registration as soon as possible and this must be achieved within six months of your start date.
  • Driving Licence: As the duties of this role require you to effectively travel to successfully undertake the full remit of the role, you must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle. (*Where a disability precludes you from obtaining a driving licence, ELC will take into account its responsibility to make reasonable adjustments to allow for your disability.)
  • PVG Membership: This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020. All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups will be required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
