Family Support Worker - Children's Services - INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY - EAL12927 in Haddington

Hourly rate of pay: £20.13 - £22.51

Days and Hours of Work: Monday - Friday. Starting and finishing times are flexible, and flexi time is applicable. To start asap.

This is a permanent full-time position (35 hours per week) until May 2027, and after May 2027 it will revert to a permanent part-time position (22 hours per week). East Lothian Children's Services has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and skilled Family Support Worker to join our Intake and Assessment Team. This fast-paced and rewarding duty service plays a key role in ensuring children, young people and families receive the right support at the right time. The Intake and Assessment Team is the front door to Children and Families Social Work Services, responding to referrals, assessing need and risk, and working with partner agencies to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.

We are looking for applicants with excellent communication and report-writing skills, a strong values base, and a sound understanding of child development, assessment and child protection processes. Successful candidates will be confident in building positive relationships with children and families, contributing to assessment and planning, and working effectively with partner agencies.

The successful candidate will have experience of working directly with children, young people and families and a sound understanding of child protection and safeguarding responsibilities. Experience within Children and Families Social Work Services would be advantageous.

Job Requirements:

• Relevant Qualifications: You must be educated to at least HNC/SVQ 3 (SCQF 7) in Social Care or another relevant discipline and able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.
• Driving Licence: As the duties of this role require you to effectively travel to successfully undertake the full remit of the role, you must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
• PVG Membership: This post is considered as a Regulated Role with vulnerable children and/or protected adults. All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups will be required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
