The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week). Part-time hours will be pro-rated accordingly. Hourly rate of pay: £20.13 - £22.51. Temporary maternity cover for 12 months.

Days and Hours of Work: Days of working are to be negotiated, working hours are 09:00-17:00. Starting and finishing times are flexible, and flexi time is applicable. To start asap.

East Lothian Children's Services has an exciting opportunity for a Family Support Worker to join the Disability Team. This is our specialist team working with children, young people, and their families, affected by complex and enduring disabilities. The team consists of a team leader, 2 senior practitioners, 3.5 social workers and 1.5 family support workers and has dedicated administrative support.

The successful applicant will work in partnership with children and their families to find creative and innovative approaches to meeting assessed need. The team undertake all aspects of this work including assessment, setting up and reviewing packages of support. The post holder will hold a caseload of children and young people affected by disability and be a key and valued part of the team.

Job Requirements:

• Relevant Qualifications: You must be educated to at least HNC/SVQ 3 (SCQF 7) in Social Care or another relevant discipline and able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.
• Driving Licence: As the duties of this role require you to effectively travel to successfully undertake the full remit of the role, you must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
• PVG Membership: This post is considered as a Regulated Role with vulnerable children and/or protected adults. All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups will be required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
