An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Assessment Officer within the Revenues Service. IT equipment will be provided. We are seeking to appoint a motivated, enthusiastic Financial Assessment Officer to join our Financial Inclusion Team. The role is a unique blend of complex financial duties and exceptional customer service. Training will be given.
The successful candidate will have an excellent background in customer services and working in an office environment. They will be confident working with numbers, performing calculations and reading financial documents. They will have experience of following guidelines from external agencies and following policies and procedures both internal and external. The successful candidate will be confident working with vulnerable clients and communicate financial information with families in a sensitive and empathetic manner.
The successful candidate will be able to work as an individual and as a team. They will liaise with Social Workers, Solicitors, Care homes and other professionals to obtain accurate financial data. The successful candidate will have excellent communication, organisational and negotiation skills. They will be confident working with Microsoft Office applications and other council IT systems. The successful candidate will actively promote and represent East Lothian Council’s vision, values and corporate culture. They will be positive, customer focused and support employee engagement to the highest standard.
Please note this role will be office based until training has been completed, then the opportunity to discuss if a Home/Hybrid working arrangement is possible, but not guaranteed. Home / Hybrid Working Consideration: Applications for home or hybrid working will be considered for this post in accordance with East Lothian Council’s Home Working and Worksmart Policies. Home or Hybrid working options can be discussed with candidates invited for interview. Please Note: All home/hybrid workers must live in the UK. Job Requirements: Relevant Qualifications: Educated to ‘Higher’ level, NC or SVQ2 or equivalent and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through previous experience. Driving Licence: A full current driving licence is desirable for this post. Level 1 Disclosure Clearance: This role requires Level 1 Disclosure Clearance to allow access to the Public Sector Network. ELC will submit a Police Act Disclosure application on behalf of the preferred candidate and receipt of the subsequent certificate will be required prior to commencement.
