To start 30th March 2026. Preston Tower Primary School is located in the coastal town of Prestonpans. It is a very large school split over two campuses; We currently have over 700 children from Nursery – Primary 7. The school was established in 2019, following the amalgamation of 2 schools. Our West Loan Campus has twelve P1 – P3 classes and two rooms in our nursery. Our Preston Road Campus has sixteen P4 – P7 classes.
The Senior Leadership Team includes our Head Teacher, 4 Depute Head Teachers, and a SfL Principal Teacher. Preston Tower Primary School is a school where everyone matters and we are striving for our values of KINDNESS, NURTURE, RESPECT, INCLUSION and HIGH EXPECTATIONS to be realised both within and out with our school community. We are fortunate to have enthusiastic children, supportive parents, carers and community members, committed support staff and dedicated teachers. We are committed to meeting all of our children's needs including raising attainment and achievement for all.
This post is (until the summer) for a P7 class and will therefore be located at our Preston Road Campus.
Job Details
- To undertake class-teaching duties
- Teach assigned classes together with associated preparation and correction.
- Develop the school curriculum.
- Assess, record and report on the work of pupils.
- Prepare pupils for examinations and assist with their administration.
- Provide advice and guidance to pupils on issues related to their education.
- Promote and safeguard the health, welfare and safety of pupils.
- Work in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals.
- Undertake appropriate and agreed Career Long Professional Development (CLPL).
- Participate in issues related to school planning, raising achievement and individual review.
- Contribute towards good order and the wider needs of the school.

Please Note - Pay arrangements for those starting after 1st day of school session In accordance with Teachers Conditions of Service (SNCT - Appendix 2.19), Teachers who commence employment with East Lothian Council after the first day of the school session will have their salary for the remainder of the school salary year (which runs from 1 August to 31 July each year), recalculated to reflect how teachers accrue leave and pay. In these circumstances, a calculation will be carried out upon commencement of employment and leave and pay will be adjusted. Further information will be provided to the successful candidate should this be applicable.
