TMS (Transcranial magnetic stimulation) is a treatment for people with Major Treatment Resistant Depression (TRD). TRD is the term to describe people with depression for whom standard treatments with antidepressants and psychological therapies have been unsuccessful. This form of depression is chronic and difficult to treat; it often requires inpatient care, often sometimes for an extended period.
The Tower Hamlets Neuromodulation Team is an outpatient service that provides direct care to Service Users. The Clinic works with Consultants, NMHT's, Wards, HTT across the borough as well as private patients and other service providers across the North East London Integrated care system.
We have an exciting opportunity for a band 4 support worker to join the team in this three day a week post.
Main duties of the job- The TMS Practitioner will prepare and perform TMS treatments on patients in accordance with SOPs and prescriptions.
- They will carry out regular patient psychometric tests and conduct observational assessments.
- The TMS Practitioner will support patients through their treatment, keeping them informed of progress at each stage of their treatment plan.
- They will maintain accurate patient records and database of patient information for audit purposes.
- The TMS Practitioner will communicate effectively within the multidisciplinary team and keep the responsible clinician informed of patients' progress through regular contact.
- They will participate in regular supervision with a clinic manager and provide advice and guidance to patients on the telephone as required.

- To take a dynamic role with the TMS clinic manager within the TMS service to maximise the contribution that the recovery model, values and evidence based nursing makes to the service user journey.
- Working with people with mental health and physical health problems.
- Assisting patients to complete psychiatric rating scales after sessions.
- Understanding Mental Health issues relevant to adults with acute mental health problems.
- Administering TMS treatments.
- Working within a multidisciplinary team environment.
